Cryotherapy: Freezing for Good Health

On September 9, millions of viewers watched as Michael Strahan from Live! with Kelly and Michael entered into a “Whole Body Cryotherapy” chamber provided by the Texas-based company, CryoUSA. Although the idea of cryotherapy – and the cryotherapy chamber – looked like things of the future, according to Kelly Ripa, Strahan, and thousands of cryotherapy diehards, it’s time is now.

Cryotherapy is used by elite body builders for recovery

Used by a laundry list of elite athletes including everyone from professional bodybuilders to olympians, UFC fighters, and even entire NBA teams, cryogenic chamber therapy is building a reputation as one of the most effective new recovery therapies currently available to athletes. With its growth in popularity WBC (Whole Body Cryotherapy) is becoming more accessible to the general public as more and more clinicians are adding chambers to their practices to use as a more effective alternative to cold water immersion or ice packs.

Who is using Cryotherapy?

The world's fastest man, Usain Bolt, used a mobile cryosauna at the 2012 London Olympics to relieve a back injury. Players from every NBA team have used Whole Body Cryotherapy to accelerate their recovery. Faster recovery allows these athletes to train harder and return from injury sooner. Teams with cryosaunas at their training facilities: Suns, Lakers, Cavaliers, Timberwolves, Raptors, Knicks, Spurs , Rockets, Hawks and Magic.
